Signature Newborn Sessions | Eupora, MS Newborn Photographer

Can we talk about babies for a minute? Newborn sessions along with First Year Collective memberships are by far the bulk of the sessions that we shoot at Kim Kelley Photography. And we get lots of questions. Want to hear some of them?

When do I need to book?

The best time to book your newborn session or FYC membership is as soon as possible after 12-16 weeks of pregnancy. We want to make sure we reserve your due date on our calendar. Because of the level of service that we provide, the number of newborn sessions that we can shoot is limited. Occasionally, we can squeeze in newborn sessions but it hurts our hearts to have to say no to your sweet babies.

What do I need to bring?

Parents ask this a lot and the short answer is just bring your baby, milk (whether nursing or formula feeding) and a pacifier if your baby takes one. We have everything that you’ll need. The studio is stocked with natural wraps, headbands for girls, soothers for getting your baby to sleep and extra diapers and wipes if you need them! We have gorgeous dresses that are perfect for postpartum moms. Moms also get to relax in our salon chair and get pampered with professional hair & makeup so come in your leggings and t-shirt and let us take care of you!

How long will the session last?

Most newborn sessions last 2-3 hours. We begin photographing your baby while you’re getting hair & makeup done. Then we’ll move onto siblings. And when you’re all ready, we’ll photograph your family last. Occasionally we will go back to grab a few shots of baby alone at the end of the session. Momma, don’t worry about big brothers or sisters (or Dad) getting hungry. We provide a charcuterie board for each Signature Session.

What if my baby has a scratch, baby acne or flakey skin?

No worries! We can edit scratches and baby acne. When it comes to flakey newborn skin, I kind of love it! I would edit it from your baby’s face if it’s distracting but I love to leave it on detail shots of their little hands… it’s just a sweet part of your new baby’s story.

What happens after our session?

The session is fun. But even more fun happens after your session. Approximately 1-2 weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio to view your photos for your design & ordering appointment. You get to make final decisions on what to do with your photos. How do you want to enjoy them every day? Of course, we’re there to help every step of the way from help with creating story walls and designing heirloom albums to the final installation and delivery of your frames and albums.

Time is a thief. And your baby’s newborn stage is over before you even realize it’s happening. But our goal is to capture your life’s sweetest moments and make sure you have something to hold onto long after your baby can no longer be snuggled safely in your arms.

Do It For Him | Mississippi Child Photographer

I know by the 6 month mark, you have realized how quickly your baby is growing. You want to document all the new tricks… sitting up, all the smiles, tummy time (or maybe how he hates it). ;)

It’s easy to consider just having your baby photographed alone. But Mom and Dad, get IN the photos. Do it for him. Imagine how he will feel as he grows and sees the obvious adoration you have for him in the framed prints on your walls.

You don’t have to get ready before your session. You’re worried about how you think you’re not photogenic enough. But let me let you in on a little secret… I’ve had years of experience (18+) working with families. When it comes to portrait sessions, I’m very laid back and get giggles out of parents when it’s really the babies that I’m trying to get the smiles from.

We take away all the stress of getting ready so that you can just enjoy your family. (Wardrobe and professional hair & makeup is included in your Signature Session.) You may not feel like a model when you arrive but when you see your portraits, you’ll realize love brings out the best in you.

Full Service | Mississippi Newborn Photographer

So what exactly does full service mean? Nope, we’re not a gas station. Does anyone even remember the days when you pull up at the pump and someone filled your tank for you, washed your windshield and checked your oil? That kind of service is a distant memory for most.

But we’re bringing service back for your portrait sessions! You basically pull into the KKP studio and let us handle all the things. We begin with wardrobe. You don’t have to do any shopping for yourself OR your family! We have wardrobe options for everyone. Are you worried that your kids will be hungry during the session? We have snacks and drinks that kids LOVE! We bring out the most fun toys and props. And I’ve even heard dads say that the session was enjoyable. (And that’s really saying something!)

Once all the sweet photos of your family have been taken, it’s time to sit with us to decide how you’ll want to enjoy your photos. Custom framed prints and heirloom albums are our most popular options. You don’t have to be an interior designer. We help you every step of the way… from helping to choose what images work well with each other to choosing a beautiful frame that coordinates well with your photos and your home!

Once your framing and album orders are ready, we deliver and install framing. Leave the measuring and leveling to us. It is only your job to enjoy your family’s memories. Because all too soon, your babies will outgrow your lap.
