Signature Newborn Sessions | Eupora, MS Newborn Photographer

Can we talk about babies for a minute? Newborn sessions along with First Year Collective memberships are by far the bulk of the sessions that we shoot at Kim Kelley Photography. And we get lots of questions. Want to hear some of them?

When do I need to book?

The best time to book your newborn session or FYC membership is as soon as possible after 12-16 weeks of pregnancy. We want to make sure we reserve your due date on our calendar. Because of the level of service that we provide, the number of newborn sessions that we can shoot is limited. Occasionally, we can squeeze in newborn sessions but it hurts our hearts to have to say no to your sweet babies.

What do I need to bring?

Parents ask this a lot and the short answer is just bring your baby, milk (whether nursing or formula feeding) and a pacifier if your baby takes one. We have everything that you’ll need. The studio is stocked with natural wraps, headbands for girls, soothers for getting your baby to sleep and extra diapers and wipes if you need them! We have gorgeous dresses that are perfect for postpartum moms. Moms also get to relax in our salon chair and get pampered with professional hair & makeup so come in your leggings and t-shirt and let us take care of you!

How long will the session last?

Most newborn sessions last 2-3 hours. We begin photographing your baby while you’re getting hair & makeup done. Then we’ll move onto siblings. And when you’re all ready, we’ll photograph your family last. Occasionally we will go back to grab a few shots of baby alone at the end of the session. Momma, don’t worry about big brothers or sisters (or Dad) getting hungry. We provide a charcuterie board for each Signature Session.

What if my baby has a scratch, baby acne or flakey skin?

No worries! We can edit scratches and baby acne. When it comes to flakey newborn skin, I kind of love it! I would edit it from your baby’s face if it’s distracting but I love to leave it on detail shots of their little hands… it’s just a sweet part of your new baby’s story.

What happens after our session?

The session is fun. But even more fun happens after your session. Approximately 1-2 weeks after your session, you’ll return to the studio to view your photos for your design & ordering appointment. You get to make final decisions on what to do with your photos. How do you want to enjoy them every day? Of course, we’re there to help every step of the way from help with creating story walls and designing heirloom albums to the final installation and delivery of your frames and albums.

Time is a thief. And your baby’s newborn stage is over before you even realize it’s happening. But our goal is to capture your life’s sweetest moments and make sure you have something to hold onto long after your baby can no longer be snuggled safely in your arms.

We have made it our mission to create a stress-free portrait experience for your family. If you are looking for an unhurried, relaxed photo session, we are here for you. We begin with wardrobe & styling and our job isn’t done until we have installed your custom framing and delivered your heirloom albums. We are the “easy button” for your portrait experience.

Are you ready to book your newborn session? I would love to chat with you about the KKP Experience and how we can best serve you. Our First Year Collective is a popular option for parents who want to document each sweet stage of their baby’s first year. Feel free to contact me using this contact form and we will chat soon.
